Your coolant system is responsible for dispersing heat and keeping your core components at an adequate operating temperature. Coolant systems can take many forms, but the most common is a radiator and fan clutch-based design. To get your fleet serviced, call Accelerated Fleet Services today!
Common Coolant System Issues
Broken Fan Clutch
Ever wonder what activates and deactivates your cooling fans? Well, your fan clutch! A fan clutch is exactly what it sounds like, a clutch that activates your cooling fan. Although this fan is generally quite durable, it can fail and cause your engine to overheat. If the clutch fails while your fan isn’t engaged your coolant system won’t be able to disperse enough heat. At Accelerated Fleet Services, we offer comprehensive coolant system repairs for fleets of all kinds and sizes. Call today to book your appointment.
Failing Water Pump
Is your engine overheating? If your fan clutch is operational and you’re confident your radiator isn’t plugged, you may have a failing water pump. The water pump in your fleet trucks is responsible for circulating coolant throughout your engine block and then back through a radiator. Without this pump, the coolant will stay static and fail to disperse enough heat. This will almost certainly cause your engine to overheat and often requires a complete water pump replacement.
Plugged Radiator
A plugged radiator is another common cause of an overheating problem. If your radiator gets plugged, it will likely restrict flow and fail to disperse enough heat to keep your engine running at an adequate temperature. Plugs are usually caused by old fluid that breaks down and leaves debris behind.
